INDIVIDUAL AND PROJECT-BASED WORK
Amarja Koers is a fourth-year student of Biology and Medical Laboratory Research at VHL University of Applied Sciences. She is currently specialising in Biomedical Research, a subject that contains theory as well as practice-based learning.
Cause and cure of illnesses
‘In this training it’s all about researching the cause and the cure of illnesses. Of course we study the theory, but after that we mainly focus on applying the theory in practice. We learn how to work individually and project-based. Just work in the lab and know what you’re doing, why and what for!’
‘The work placements are attuned really well to the education and vice versa. What helps is that we have advanced research equipment at the school. Only in hospitals, with their huge research flow, the equipment is bigger. When I graduate I want to do a master at the University of Utrecht. After that: scientific research!’
