Green steps forward
As the most sustainable university in the Netherlands, we are working on a world we can pass on. Contributing to Sustainable Development Goals is something that is interwoven in our education and in our business operations. Do you share this mindset? Then you are at the right place at Van Hall Larenstein for...
Climate change, globalisation, a growing global population and digitisation have consequences on a worldwide scale. Throughout the world, there is a growing demand for knowledge and well-trained people, who are capable of contributing to solutions to problems in the field of the preservation and sustainable use of land and water, biodiversity, food security and the transition to a biobased economy.
Van Hall Larenstein wants to and is able to contribute to this approach in its capacity as most sustainable university in the ‘green’ domain with several locations and an international network. The study programmes, research and business operations at our university are geared towards ‘taking sustainable steps’ as far as possible.
The Green Office is run by a changing group of students and stands for sustainability within Van Hall Larenstein, both in Leeuwarden and in Velp. They do this by supporting the application of fun ideas, initiatives and signals. The Green Office supports these “green” initiatives by organising activities, such as a Warm Sweaters day, in order to enhance awareness of sustainability and energy savings. In addition, the Green Office develops initiatives for the long term, such as loan bikes for staff members.
