Guest lecture: Introduction Master River Delta Development

Water is the source of all life. It provides food, makes transport possible and is an important carrier of biodiversity. It is therefore not surprising that water plays an important role in many cultures. Yet it is not easy to manage and use the water sustainably. Certainly in the light of climate change, the challenges for the next generations are great. Depending on the geographic location, we have to deal with too much water (flooding), too little water (water scarcity) or polluted water.

In the MSc River Delta Development, we delve deeper into the causes of these problems, but especially focus on the latest insights into how we can tackle these complex challenges successfully.

In this introductory lecture, we will discuss the latest technical and non-technical innovations that can help us as a society in realizing sustainable water management in urbanized deltas such as the Netherlands.
