Information for parents
Time for choices
Your son or daughter is reflecting on their future and will choose a study programme. Your support is important because a study choice involves many considerations and will have far-reaching consequences.
Of course, the choice of study is the personal decision of your son or daughter, but your involvement is greatly appreciated. More and more students ask their parent(s) to join them on an open day. We greatly appreciate your interest in Van Hall Larenstein and we welcome you.
Following the open days, we also organise an information evening in the spring, which will focus even more on issues that are likely to preoccupy you as a parent. In the introductions or on the information market, you will find information on the coaching of students, study grants, enrolment, moving into a student house, or studying with a disability. The study programmes will also give presentations here.
If your son or daughter will shortly be taking school leaving examinations, it is a good idea to register for an ‘orientation day’. This will provide a great deal of insight. Have a look at upcoming orientation days.
Career perspective and continuing education
Even though many prospective students do not yet think about life after their studies, it is nevertheless very important for parents to have an idea of the various career opportunities once a diploma has been obtained from Van Hall Larenstein. On the page of the study programme your son or daughter intends to follow, you will find more information on potential professions under the ‘career opportunities’ header. Some students want to continue their studies in scientific education after finishing their study programme. A diploma from Van Hall Larenstein will pave the way for various master programmes at Dutch and foreign universities. Each programme has different options.
