Van Hall Larenstein and Corona: we will support you as usual - also in Corona times

Van Hall Larenstein is closely monitoring the developments surrounding the Coronavirus and follows the advice issued by RIVM, the national government, GGD and other expert agencies. One of the measures we have taken is to cease physical classes at our two locations. We are currently working on an alternative schedule for the period up to 1 September 2020. In the meantime, many of our programmes have switched to online lecturing methods in order to prevent study delay among our students as far as possible. A great deal of energy is being spent on this. Very creative and innovative solutions are emerging. In short, we will continue behind the scenes!

The well-being of our students and employees is of the greatest importance to us. Via e-mails, webinars, newsitems and an online Q&A at MyHVHL, we will inform students and employees as well as we can about the measures that Van Hall Larenstein is taking to prevent the further spread of the Coronavirus. A special Corona information line has been set up, which is available 24/7 via e-mail and telephone.

We can imagine that you – as a potential student, parent / carer of a (potential) student, internship / graduation company, guest speaker, supplier, et cetera – have questions. We will try to answer them as well as possible below. This information will be updated regularly, as we are still developing plenty of alternatives behind the scenes, and the situation is changing from day to day.

Of course, we would prefer to see all of you in our classrooms, but we know that we will not be able to offer all courses in our buildings in September due to the coronavirus measures. Does your child follow a study programme at Van Hall Larenstein?

We try to inform our students as well as possible about the measures that Van Hall Larenstein is taking. We use e-mails, webinars, newsitems and an online Q&A in our internal portal. Our Student Guidance Counselors and Student Counselors are also on stand-by to help students with any personal (study) problems that may arise. Your son or daughter can share this information with you, needless to say. A number of key points can be found on this page. Do you have another urgent question? Is a student at Van Hall Larenstein doing an internship in your organisation? Or are you supervising a graduate?

We expect students who are currently doing an internship or graduation to follow the guidelines of the company. Those guidelines take precedence over Van Hall Larenstein's guidelines. Internships and graduation assignments should be able to continue as far as possible. Should any problems arise with regard to the Coronavirus, our students will contact their supervisors at Van Hall Larenstein. This has already happened in most cases, and students have received general guidelines about their internship or graduation. Appropriate measures can be taken in consultation.
Do you have any other questions? Then send an e-mail to

Are you a guest lecturer or speaker for a study programme?

Study programmes will continue remotely as far as possible. This could mean that you will provide remote teaching as a guest lecturer. Has an appointment been scheduled? Do you have an appointment at one of our locations?

Do you have a physical appointment? Then check in advance whether it is still scheduled. Most employees are working from home now, and most appointments have been converted to a digital version. Do you want to make an appointment? Then opt for a digital version or the telephone.

Are you a supplier of the university?

Are you a supplier of Van Hall Larenstein and do you want to deliver an agreed delivery? That is possible. The locations in Velp and Leeuwarden are open, and the Facility Management department is available (with limited staffing). However, we have adjusted opening hours – from 7.30 am to 5.00 pm.
