Winners of the VHL Golden Globes 2021

26-04-2021

Normally, the Golden Globes are awarded during the Employee Day when all HVHL University of Applied Sciences (VHL) employees are present. Last year the Corona crisis prevented this from happening, which is why this year an online format was chosen. Students presented their project with a video pitch on a special online environment. Employees were able to choose their favourite and three winners emerged. The three best projects from Leeuwarden will also go through to the LC Awards, organised by the Leeuwarder Courant on 8 June. On Thursday 22 April, Jan van Iersel announced the winners live via Teams on behalf of the Executive Board.

Golden Globe winners

Several cash prizes were awarded for the winners by HVHL. An amount of 500 euros was awarded for the first place, for the second place, 300 euros, and the third place an amount of 250 euros. “For me, this is always one of the highlights of an academic year, to see all these wonderful student projects presented together”, Jan van Iersel said in his opening remarks. “It's a shame of course that we are physically unable to celebrate this party, but I was impressed with all the participants.”

First place: Bodemraad

Second place: Zelfvoorzienende Ark

Candidates for the LC Awards

Every year, the Leeuwarder Courant organises the LC Awards to highlight the best student projects in the north. Corona did not allow these awards to be presented last year, but the event will be held again this year on 8 June in the city theatre De Harmonie in Leeuwarden. The three best projects from the Leeuwarden location who won the Golden Globes will represent HVHL in the LC Awards:

  1. Bodemraad
  2. Zelfvoorzienende Ark
  3. Duurzaam Drijvend Studentenhuis

Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to all the contestants for entering the competition and to those projects that are going through to the LC Awards: good luck!
