'Working in an international environment is challenging and you learn a great deal'
Hendrik van Houten says: “I studied International Business at Van Hall Larenstein because it is just slightly different from the other International Business study programmes in the Netherlands. It is a broad study programme with a focus on sustainable entrepreneurship, which is in line with my interests. In my own network in the food & agri sector I had seen that there are many opportunities in this field and that Van Hall Larenstein is a university that has explored this area.
Hendrik is Global Investment and Innovation Incentives advisor at Deloitte. “I focus on subsidies, fiscal arrangements and taxes for new green innovations such as the biobased economy. Prior to this, I worked at Ekwadraat, which is a company involved in clean energy in the international environment. I ran biofuel projects in Germany and China. Working in an international environment is challenging and you learn a great deal. As a sustainable energy advisor, I am mainly involved in fermentation projects. Examples include the valorisation of green gas, opportunities for Bio LNG as a sustainable fuel, and mapping out mono-manure fermentation in agriculture in general.
