‘I was part of the Red Cross Disaster Risk Reduction Unit’

Julian went to Lebanon as part of his studies International Development Management. During his internship he took all the opportunities he could to learn and blend in:

‘I did my internship at the Lebanese Red Cross in the capital of Lebanon, Beirut. As part of the Disaster Risk Reduction Unit, I worked on an improved approaching strategy to increase resilience in the most vulnerable communities and (Syrian) camps throughout Lebanon. It was an amazing experience and it helped developing me on a professional level. Also the climate strikes and the Lebanese revolution made my stay really interesting.

Opportunities
I took many opportunities to learn more during my stay in Lebanon. I attended various lectures and conferences at universities and institutions about politics in the Middle-East, climate change, and human rights. Besides this, I took Arabic language lessons. I stayed in an apartment with local people and made a lot of friends from all over the world.‘
