24-05-2019

After an exciting finale, the long-awaited announcement was finally made at 5 p.m. this afternoon: Van Hall Larenstein can call itself the Netherlands’ most sustainable University of Applied Sciences once again in 2019! In the overall ranking by SustainaBul, the university even rose to second place, just one step away from the highest spot. The assessment of the educational institutions focused on the integration of sustainability within the categories of education, operational management, research and integrated. In the latter two categories, Van Hall Larenstein finished highest of all the participating institutions.

Recognition by students and fellow institutions

SustainaBul is the ranking list of Dutch Research Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences in the field of sustainability. It is an initiative of the national student platform “Studenten voor Morgen" (Students for Tomorrow), which aims to promote sustainability within institutions for higher education. The ranking is based on the extent to which the educational institutions have integrated sustainability into education, research and management.

Diane Keizer: “I am extremely proud of this result and the recognition we have received for our efforts, from fellow institutions too. My compliments to everyone at Van Hall Larenstein who contributed to this.”

SustainaBul 2020 at Van Hall Larenstein

SustainaBul was awarded for the seventh time, during the National Day of Sustainability in Higher Education. Ten Research Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences participated in the competition this year. The award ceremony took place at AVANS in Den Bosch.

In 2020, Van Hall Larenstein will host the National Day of Sustainability in Higher Education, and therefore also host the SustainaBul event. On Friday 29th May, we will welcome all fellow institutions to our sustainable estate in Velp. All the more reason to continue to make every effort in striving for a sustainable future!
