Green business

The agro-food sector is improving its environmental sustainability. As the most sustainable university of applied sciences in the Netherlands, HVHL is part of the Green Business movement to create a real impact in improving the sustainability of the Netherlands and the way in which we produce and process our food. Green Business is an umbrella theme and has multiple points of entry for applied research groups, including soil, water, crops, enterprise, food processing, landscapes, and people and society. Some examples are the transition from animal to plant-based protein, the processing of manure to improve circularity, reducing emissions, the bio-based economy, and improved biodiversity. But Green Business is also about taking a human-centred approach to how we organise society, and about creating partnerships to shape transitions together.
