More information about the visa and the IND norm:
When you come to study in the Netherlands, you'll get a visa for the nominal study period. If you need more time, you need to ask for an extension.
The Dutch immigration service (IND) requires you to pay a deposit called the IND norm. You have to transfer this deposit before you travel to the Netherlands, to show you can financially support yourself for the first year. It is not possible to pay in instalments. After you arrive and open a Dutch bank account, you'll get this deposit back.
The IND norm is set by the Dutch government every 6 months and is subject to change. More information can be found on the website of the IND.
